Right now, the only thing Carrie could pick up was the driver’s dull buzz of random mundane thoughts. Summer had her shields up and just had this peaceful hum about her. Carrie focused on that and tuned out everything else.

They reached a cove where wild dolphins would come in voluntarily and swim with patrons. There were marine biologists on hand, people trained in dolphin behavior who studied the animals and monitored all human interaction for the safety of both.

Changing into wet suits, Carrie waded out into the water with Summer. She could already see the dorsal fins.
